Weve gathered the best of Surry Hills yoga studios.

InYoga feels like a sanctuary amidst the bustle of inner-city Sydney. The studio is beautifully designed with high ceilings, timber floors and an ambience that immediately calms. The aim of InYoga is to encourage people to bring the philosophy of yoga off the mat and into their lives by focusing as much on the mind as the body. Co-owners Rod Galbraith and Nicole Walsh combine their different yoga backgrounds (Rod has studied traditional practices in India, while Nicole has a more contemporary approach) to create a style of yoga that is rooted in tradition, while relevant to modern city dwellers. Vinyasa is the bread and butter at InYoga, but more intimate Yin, pre-natal and meditation classes are also on offer.

Urban Yoga

A little different to your average yoga studio, Urban Yoga combines music, visuals and movement in a modern interpretation of this ancient practice. You wont find any gongs or yogi jargon here. Instead, Urban Yoga adds an upbeat soundtrack of original DJ mixes whilst a huge high def screen displays epic sunsets, rainforests, waves and other equally mesmerising imagery. The classes range from beginners to advanced with different styles and paces to suit any level, goal or mood. The Urban Base class is great for newbie yogis or those who like to take it slow. Urban Flow is a faster paced, dynamic flow class for more seasoned yogis. Urban Warrior, whilst slow and steady, builds hardcore warrior strength and is one of the most challenging Urban classes. Both mood-boosting and soothingly hypnotic, Urban Yoga is an entirely immersive experience.
