Barry represents the new Northcote. It sits on a prominent corner block in the Westgarth end of High Street, serving up sensational caf fare in a casually swanky setting. Their coffee is superb its Barrys unique blend of 5 Senses coffee, which comes up beautifully in every form. We recommend the iced coffee with honey; it sounds unusual, but its brilliant.

This crew makes the most of the beautiful beans from small-batch roasters, Industry Beans. Their coffee menu is serious business, offering single origin beans, cold drips and even filter coffee for those that like to do coffee diner-style. They also make a selection of insane coffee cocktails, so dont be surprised if your coffee date gets boozy.

The Breakfast Club
Theres nothing pretentious about this cosy caf. They do deliciously comforting brekkie and lunch dishes and a snappy cuppa to accompany. And their name isnt the only tribute to times past; they also play on childhood nostalgia with a few of their dishes, which we think is a nice touch.

In contrast to the trendy cafes that have taken over Northcote, Red Door Corner Store feels like a friendly neighbourhood place. It evokes the experience of visiting a corner store, but thats not to say theres anything parochial about their coffee and snacks. They work with Mailing Room coffee, a beautiful bean from a boutique roastery based in Melbourne.

The team behind Herbert has done a fantastic job with this space. Converted from an unassuming warehouse with a graffiti-spangled brick faade, the finished venue is a delightful place to hang out. Their menu is sensational from season to season, and they get their beans from Padre, which roasts and blends two postcodes away in Brunswick.
