Fort Green

Recently opened, Fort Green features a pet-friendly courtyard and spacious interior. With deliciously filling smoothies including our favourite, the salted peanut caramel, made of peanut butter, carob, maple syrup, dates, sea salt, banana and almond milk. Other menu highlights include the breakfast bowls (of course there is Acai) and the whole food bowls for a more savoury twist. What’s more, Fort Green has just opened a Yoga Studio above its cafe. This is genius, as there is no way you’ll be able to resist a smoothie or small treat after your class!

Tahina

Tahina, offering Israeli street food in the heart of Northcote. This little eatery is always bustling, with people dining in or lining up for a quick takeaway pita pocket (Beat the crowd by ordering online). Tahnia offers its customers vegetarian Israeli street food, promised to leave your body feeling nourished. The quality and freshness of the ingredients used here is what makes Tahnia so popular with the locals. Tahina’s famous pita pockets offer an array of fillings including the Green or Red Falafel with coriander, mint, israeli salad, pickled cabbage and of course tahini. Salads and ‘Shakshuka’ are also on the menu, along with delicious wholesome smoothies to accompany your meal.

Tinker

Oh Tinker, just when you thought Northcote didn’t need another cafe. With a guaranteed line streaming out its door every weekend, it’s safe to say Tinker is one cafe that everyone wants to try. With its beautifully simplistic setting of white walls and grey tiles, delicious food and fantastic coffee it’s easy to see why this is the case! Since opening last year, the hype around Tinker continues to grow. While Tinker chooses to display its menu on a simple A4 sheet, it doesn’t mean it will make it any easier for you to decide what you’ll order. The breakfast bowl with cashew pesto quinoa, avocado, kale, cherry tomatoes, halloumi and a poached egg is a hit, or if after something a little sweeter be sure to order the Jaffa Hotcake. After something a little more fried? Well the buttermilk fried chicken burger is a must. We recommend trying this cafe during the week when its less busy, but if you choose to venture there on a weekend, it seriously will be worth your wait.
