This weekend, the wildly popular and locally loved Coburg Carnivale returns! Home to the famous Half Moon Falafel and hordes of pigeons, Victoria Mall will come to life with the colours of the councils annual Carnivale on Friday 22 September (3-7pm) and Saturday 23 September 2017 (11am-3pm).
Organisers have put together a festival featuring something for everyone. Carnivale-goers can get knee-deep in kitsch at the Asian Grocery pop-up shop; take part in collaborative music workshops with Reach Out Sounds; learn a bit about Coburgs history from ReCollection; marvel at the curiosities of Crate Expectations art installations; and take a multicultural tasting tour of Sydney Roads best sweets.
But you dont have to book in for an activity to enjoy the Coburg Carnivale. Visitors of all ages flock to the event to try food from local vendors, listen to live music and enjoy kid-friendly fun like face painting and roving entertainers.
Moreland City Council is passionate about making their events as accessible and inclusive as possible. Coburg Carnivale began as an opportunity for people to share their culture with their neighbours and with that in mind, for the first time, Moreland City Council has hired two Auslan interpreters to ensure everyone can take part in the fun.
Round up your Coburg crew and help make this Coburg Carnivale 2017 the best one yet!
