We dont want any of our readers to wind up wandering the streets of Melbourne in search of a great chicken wing. There are plenty of wings in this city so many, in fact, that the whole CBD might fly away one day. You just have to know where to look!

Gami Chicken & Beer

How do you feel about lists that only have one thing on them? That would usually be the worst, but we could get away with it in this case. Gami reigns supreme when it comes to wings with a straightforward selection of fried chicken wings smothered in your choice of four sauces. They also do a mini beer keg that sits right on your table, which is wildly popular (obviously).

Crazy Wing

Crazy Wing specialises in chicken wings, served on a stick and teasing you to test your chilli tolerance. They do plenty of mild flavours like peppercorn, garlic, BBQ, honey and curry theyre all delicious, but their chilli wings are the challenge people flock for. You can go Spicy Hot which is pretty darn hot, or you can go Crazy Wing, which is an actual fire in wing form.

Merrywell

The first two stops on our wing tour offer an Asian take on chicken wings. Merrywell does a classic American-style wing, lightly fried without a crumb, tossed in tangy buffalo sauce and served with blue cheese sauce. Order a few for a wing feast or tuck in as a precursor to one of Merrywells banging burgers.

Captain Melville

This dining room is steeped in 150 years of history, so try not to get your sticky fingerprints all over it. Captain Melvilles crispy fried chicken wings with sticky Chinese black vinegar hit the spot, particularly when paired with a cold craft beer like Feral Hop Hog.

Magic Mountain Saloon

Flavour bends to the will of the Magic Mountain Saloon chefs. Their wings and ribs smack you in the face with flavours like BBQ soy with coriander or basil and garlic with kaffir lime. And hopefully, youre in for the long haul because the menus mains are really something special.
