Research suggests that walking is just as good for the mind as it is for the body. But when youre walking, talking and picking the brain of an accomplished female leader, your mind may get the lions share of the benefits.
Every month, Mentor Walks Australia connects emerging female leaders with women who are well-established in their professions. The former is a mentee and the latter acts as a mentor and as they walk around the Opera House precinct and through the beautiful Botanical Gardens, they talk.
These wandering pairs discuss their challenges, successes and goals, they ask questions and share stories and get to the core of lessons theyve learned along the way. Its an incredible opportunity for young women to get professional advice and guidance from someone who has years, even decades, of experience.
Mentor Walks Australia has sent hundreds of women off on mindset-shifting one-hour walks. Theyve paired newly-appointed female executives, women in middle management positions, entrepreneurs and young professionals of all sorts with women in positions of professional seniority.
Since launching in Sydney just over a year ago, Mentor Walks has expanded its fresh-air approach to mentoring to Melbourne and Brisbane. Events are held monthly and the ticket price of $25 goes directly to Mentor Walks operating costs. Lastly, its a casual mentoring session so theres no need to bring a stack of notes. However, Mentor Walks does encourage every mentee to show up to the event with one burning question to kick off the chat with their mentor.
