This year, Arbory Bar & Eatery’s Silent Comedy Festival is back and set to be bigger and more amusing than ever. Inspired by the silent disco phenomenon, Silent Comedy at Arbory Bar and Eatery is a stand-up comedy gig, with the comedian’s jokes and punchlines all delivered to the audience via headphones.

You may be thinking, what’s so intriguing about experiencing comedy through headphones? Well it means that the audience are able to still see the physical comedic performance, just without the disturbing ambient noise of regular venue patrons or the sound of passing trains at Flinders Street Station. What’s more, passers-by can look on and see the audience spontaneously erupting into laughter in response to what seems like nothing at all. Not your ordinary comedy show, that’s for sure!

This year’s line-up includes 15 of the best local and international comedians including; Jimeoin, Dave Hughes, Dolly Diamond, Simon Taylor, Bev Killick, Sam Taunton, The Stevenson Experience, Jacques Barrett, James Smith, Mandy Nolan and many more.

Arbory Bar & Eatery’s Silent Comedy Festival is now a staple event of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Shows at this year’s festival will run every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night from the 28th March – 22nd April.

Tim Botterill, Owner of Arbory Bar & Eatery explains how this event was born, “We wanted to commit to something fun and interesting for the Comedy Festival, but was mindful of accommodating other venue patrons, railway communtors and others on Flinders Walk,” he said.

“Over the last two years we have finessed the concept and evolved it into a really engaging comedy show by sourcing a broad spectrum of funny, popular, up and coming talent, whilst investing in a more dynamic sound for those part of the show.”

In celebration of this year’s Festival, Arbory Bar and Eatery has also partnered with Mountain Goat Brewery to bring you any burger from their menu and a schooner of Mountain Goat Summer Ale for just $20.00 over lunch and dinner for the duration of the Festival. Burgers on the menu include the famous Double Cheese, Southern Fried Chicken, Mushroom and Halloumi or the Fish & Chip Burger.

Tickets are priced at $25.00 and include sets from three comics, plus the headphones. Click here to buy or find out more.
