You could stay at your desk.or you could not.

Having lunch at the desk might be tempting especially for all the workaholics out there. A far healthier idea, however, is to allow yourself a bit of time away from your screen, in order to recoup and destress. Leaving your desk at lunch is known to improve afternoon productivity, boost your mood and clear your mind! Heres a few things guaranteed to get your mind moving again.

Catch Some Rays

Lack of Vitamin D has been linked to mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. Good ol Vitamin D (also known as the sunshine vitamin) is produced by the body in response to the skin being exposed to the sun. Make a Call

Lets admit it, somewhere on your to do list is call mum back. Unfortunately, touching base with family and friends often falls to the bottom of the list when you get to the office and by the end of the day, its completely slipped your mind. The next day, the cycle starts all over again. Conversations with the people we love, are a great way to de-stress and take a break from the work day.

So call a loved one at lunch maybe even make that call in the sun two birds, right? You can return to your desk knowing youve made mums day.

Get Moving!

The human body is designed to move! Use your lunch break to go for a walk or do some simple stretches. A 30-minute walk will help to release tension, increase circulation, clear your mind, burn some calories, reduce stress AND increase creativity not bad, right? Hey, add some classical music while you walk and you may return to the office with the focused energy of Mozart post-macchiato.

Have Lunch With a Friend/Colleague

You need to eat food to survive and, hey, look at that! So do your pals! So why not invite them out for lunch? Being social and developing your personal and workplace relationships is a far better idea than sitting alone behind a closed door.

So get out in the sun, chuck on some classical, make a call, take a walk and go get some lunch, thanks us for it later!
