Home to the Quiksilver Pro, Coolangatta is often described as the real surfers paradise (as opposed to the actual Surfers Paradise some 25 kilometres north). Known for its epic swells at Snapper Rocks, the beaches of Coolie are equally as inviting as those of the more populous Gold Coast regions, without most of the crowds. Check out some of our favourite cool cafes in Coolie.

Rockleigh Cafe

This beautiful cafe nestled two streets back from the beautiful white sands of Coolangatta Beach, is akin to a modest farmhouse (albeit spotless and inviting) serving honest, delicious farm fresh meals and quality coffee. Dining here genuinely feels like you’re warmly welcomed into a friends rural home and served real food with love. A beautiful experience.

The Black Sheep Espresso Baa

With some of the best coffee in Coolie, the Black Sheep Baa (they get extra points for ingenuity) offers great coffee with a great view. Employing some of the friendliest, most upbeat and enthusiastic staff around, this espresso baa is worth a pitstop. Open for lunch early (try the zucchini and corn fritters) and offering some interesting breakfast options, the only fault with this cafe is the extremely limited phone reception. But, in these days where coffee dates have become a mutual social media scrolling/bonding session, we think thats a pretty good fault to have.

Cafe DBar

With excellent service, great food, and great vibes, what more reason do you need to check out this little beauty? Boasting one of the best locations for a cafe in Coolangatta (though technically only metres from the Tweed Heads/NSW border), they also offer some of the best poached eggs and bacon around (mmm, bacon). And, if youre lucky, you might even spot a migrating whale or two (around late May to early November).

GCs Cafe Kirra

With beachfront views, GCs Cafe Kirra is up there with the best of them. With excellent food and service, quality produce, and smooth velvet coffee, this is a cafe to visit next time youre in Coolie! Make sure you try their melts! With plenty of choice for vegetarians and a very reasonably priced menu, GCs Cafe Kirra is a must.

Kirramisu Cafe & Restaurant

Just one block up from GCs Cafe Kirra, is Kirramisu Cafe and Restaurant. This relaxed cafe has beachfront views, outdoor tables and a beautiful sea breeze. A good quality feed with attentive staff, fast meal times and great smoothies, these guys even offer a halloumi stack! Open from 5.30am, seven days a week, Kirramisu is worth a visit.
