Brisbane is known for many things, bridges, our ability to make a beach out of a shark infested river, and thankfully, our bloody great bars.

If youre looking for a cocktail or two sip on, especially at a venue you can sit at the bar, Brisbane is home to some of the country’s best cocktail bars.

The Gresham

The award winning bar in the heart of the city is a whisky and cocktail lovers dream. Their back bar reaches to the ceiling and is filled with delights that can cater to every style of drinker. Housed in the old NIB heritage building, the world class venue has a cocktail menu that covers all bases and a whisk(e)y selection to die for. Whether you want a classic cocktail or an in house creation, the team have got your back.

Brooklyn Standard

Arguably Brisbanes best live music bar, Brooklyn Standard is a cocktail gem, hidden away on Eagle Lane. Do not be fooled by the unassuming frontage or the American, beer/dive bar feel that you may experience when you make your way down the stairs. The team has been assembled with some of Brisbanes best and coolest cocktail cats, and the venue manager runs a tight but bloody fun ship. There is nothing like ordered a great cocktail and being able to dance incredible live music. Props if you can do both without spilling a drop!

Catchment Brewing

For a bar focused on making their own beer, their spirit selection leaves little to be desired. Sitting beautifully, their back bar covers gin, whisky, vodka, rum and everything in between. The team love all aspects of booze and are always super helpful. They have separate menu for all of their Boiler Makers, demonstrating their equal love of beer and spirits. Bonus points awarded to Catchment Brewing for great food that accompanies their drinks selection.

Seymour’s Cocktails & Oysters

Seymours is the newest addition to the Caxton Street hub hub. Nestled into a little spot next to Leftys Old Time Music Hall and hidden behind luxurious curtains, Seymour’s Cocktails & Oysters is a welcome sanctuary from the craziness of its surroundings. Focusing on high quality drinks and impeccable service, the venue is filled with tables, leaving no standing room as all patrons are awarded table service. Their food-to-share is as enjoyable as their cocktails are, so get ready to fall in love.

Cobbler

Cobbler is one of those bars that you have to go to. Pretty much wall to wall spirits, two levels, a piano, a variety of seating, and goddamn good staff. The award winning bar is filled with a ridiculous amount of whisky (and other booze to be honest). Their cocktails are bloody delicious, but for us, its the watching the bar staff in action that makes this bar.

Jungle

Jungle is slice of tiki-heaven, tucked into the heart of West End. The tiny bar is filled with rum, great glassware, and good times. If youre looking for something tiki inspired, then this is your go to party place.
