From tinkering in his grandads shed, to ambitions of international furniture design, Andrews unique story sheds light on a growing Aussie industry.

With an incredible flair for innovative and stunningly simple furniture, Andrew Greggs adventures in the furniture and lighting design industry has been both successful and diverse. With numerous accolades and exhibition pieces, Andrews creations are some of Adelaides best.

The People

From his earliest memories of tinkering around in his grandads shed with tools, off cuts and glues, Andrew desired to pursue a career in an avenue combining creative flare with practical construction.

After high school, Andrew had a brief false-start studying engineering, soon discovering engineering wasnt the avenue to explore his creative talents. After moonlighting as a builders hand, Andrew commenced his Bachelor of Industrial Design at UniSA in 2003.

Graduating with accolades on the Deans Merit List in 2006, Andrews passion for industrial design propelled him further towards success. Developing an affinity for furniture and lighting, Andrews early creations were both innovative and beautiful.

Now working increasingly on freelance and bespoke commissions, Andrews creations are both practical and stunningly original. With ambitions of working in Europe with some big-name furniture and outfitter designers, if Andrews accomplishments of the last 10 years are anything to go by, the next 10 years are certain to be hugely successful.

The Process

Spending his days sketching new designs; streamlining designs in the 3D realm; constructing freelance bespoke pieces; liaising with clients; or running along Linear Park; no two days are the same for Andrew.

To the average onlooker, Andrews creations are both minimalist and practical, owing to a love of no-frills practicality and industrial simplicity. But Andrews creations are more than just practical.

These pieces of modern art represent the new generation of Australian innovative furniture. Realising the incredible talent within Australia, more and more furniture purchasers are staying within Australia for their furniture purchases, commissioning bespoke pieces to really make their home a unique gallery of custom-designed furniture.
